I am a queer, trans, disabled, plural musician based in Massachusetts. I have been a musician my whole life, starting on piano as a toddler and studying several other instruments over the years. In addition to the instruments I teach, I also have experience on voice, bassoon, saxophone, viola, trombone, Orff instruments, auxiliary percussion, banjo, organ, and harpsichord. I have also taken several classes in composition, music theory, world music history, ethnomusicology, music technology, and acoustic science. I've written songs for many years, and released an album of original folk acoustic guitar music in 2023 under the name Lux vs Lumen; more music projects are in the works!
I have worked as a teacher in a variety of subjects since I was a teenager. During college, I worked as a mentor at the Harvard Ed Portal, and participated in weekly pedagogy trainings at the Bok Center for Teaching and Learning alongside Harvard Graduate School of Education students. I've worked with all ages over the years, with kids ages 6-13 during my time with Bright Lights summer camp and Cambridge Math Circle, with teens 14-17 at the School of the New York Times, and with adults when I volunteered as an adult ESL teacher at Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Nebraska, as well as during my time working as a private music teacher.
Apart from teaching, I have worked as a trans community organizer for several years. Advocacy for transgender, disabled, and other marginalized communities is very important to me. I also love to crochet lace, roller skate, study science and foreign languages, and play video games.
